Policemen announced the rules through public address systems at various intersections and stressed on the need to adhere to the norms. The ‘violation-free day’ is observed on the first day of every month.

I guess you don’t really need something like this in the US. People there do not secure a license unless they are aware of the traffic rules but in India, getting a license is as simple as it gets. People do not give a damn about the traffic rules being preached here in India. Strict however the authorities would be, people never change their attitude towards these rules.
